Getting Ready for Surgery

Preparing for weight loss surgery is crucial as it sets the stage for a successful and sustainable weight loss journey. 

By recognising the importance of preparation, individuals can optimise their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing ready for the journey ahead. 

Use the time before your surgery to make some goals and get prepared.  For example:

  • Aim to be more active in the long term and sort an exercise plan.
  • Try cooking more – healthy, tasty recipes.
  • Cut down on junk foods.
  • View what you eat as fuel for your body – eat plenty of protein foods.
  • Get prepared – sort out your supplements with your GP before your surgery.
  • Buy in some wind remedies (gripe water, windeze) ready for post – op.
  • Make some bean based blended soups and freeze ready for the post op diet.
  • Tidy your cupboards – get rid of the high calorie snack foods, fizzy drinks, sugary foods etc.

There’s no denying the pre – op diet is strict and hard going but that’s what is getting you to your surgery and on to the next chapter of your life.
