Ok so you have had your consultation with your surgeon and your date is booked. Yayyyyyyy exciting times ahead……. Following this you will have a series of consultations with your dietitian and clinic nurse to get you ready for your big day.

Nurse Pre-Op assessment
- Check health history
- Contact GP if required
- Discuss surgical requirements
- Send health history for anaesthetic review
- Keep patient updated on progress throughout preoperative stage
- Patient must be advised if any change prior to surgery we must be made aware - your operation could be cancelled if you are not well on the day
- Complete pre-op bloods/swabs depending on your provider
- Discuss smoking & the importance of stopping during the peri - operative period
You may need to book some time off work to recover after your surgery, normally a week will suffice, but everyone is different. No heavy lifting or carrying initially so bear this is mind when planning your recovery period. Depending on your provider’s requirement you may need to remove your false nails and body piercings in preparation for surgery, your nurse will discuss all this with you during your pre-op assessment.
