National Bread Week 19th-25th May

As we all know bread can be a common caution food post-bariatric surgery, some people just decide to give it up altogether.  Sometimes it is just a case of finding the type of bread product that you can tolerate, and some really are much easier than others.   It is also very important to make sure you are  eating and chewing slow enough, so using the 20+ rule, as that can make all of the difference in your tolerance.

Some ideas to try can include

  • Toast
  • Pitta breads
  • Thins
  • Rolls
  • Wraps
  • Ciabatta’s
  • Panini’s
  • Pitta pockets

If you decide to give it up altogether is this a problem long-term?  No, but just remember to ensure your diet is balanced a quarter of your plate should be a carbohydrate.  These include:

  • Pasta
  • Potatoes
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Cous cous
  • Noodles
  • Cereals
  • Cereal bars

So just remember this when you are portioning up your plate.
